Psychoanalysis and Literature in Europe and the Americas

One of the disciplines that most lend itself to the study of the various reformulations and appropriations that psychoanalysis has undergone throughout its transcultural journey is literature. The history of encounters and disagreements between the two disciplines has left such a deep impression on both that it is difficult to study one without mentioning the other. From Freud to the present, literary themes cover the psychoanalytic theories that are sometimes inspired by them, others make them an object of analysis through interpretative processes that nourish the development of these theories while trying to offer a key to reading for the literary genre.
